1.1 Commitment and Accountability

1.1.1 Is management responsible and accountable for the success of the EHS Management System (EHS MS)?
1.1.2 Are formal review of the EHS MS, as it relates to company vision, mission and EHS policy, conducted at least annually to confirm the relevance and currency? Is it modified if needed?
1.1.3 Does management practice and lead the organization in a relationship-based safety culture that shows care and concern for individuals?
1.1.4 Is open communication supported for Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Social responsibility issues, incidents and compliance?
1.1.5 Is there a responsible and accountable party for each EHS MS requirement?
1.1.6 Is support provided for local action taken within the EHS MS to improve work performance, protect the health and safety of employees and the environment?
1.1.7 Are contractor policies and practices consistent with EHS MS?

1.2 Strategy and Planning

1.2.1 Have clear goals, objectives and EHS targets been established and communicated throughout the organization on an annual basis?
1.2.2 Do business units develop strategies and tactical plans to achieve annual goals, objectives, and EHS targets?
1.2.3 Are learning and improvement opportunities identified from assurance activities and incorporated into annual planning activities?

1.3 Performance Metrics and Reporting

1.3.1 Does management set appropriate performance metrics, assign responsibility, and tract and report results?
1.3.2 Does management define, measure, evaluate, report, and track appropriate leading and lagging key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement?
